About
World Breakfasts & Snacks rebuilds breakfasts and light meals from around the world in a home kitchen, working from recipes written in the language of the dish's own home. It covers egg dishes, sandwiches, porridges, street snacks, savory breads and pies, and also sweets that are not baked, such as fried pastries and chilled desserts. Sweet baked goods live on our sister site, World Bakes.
How the recipes are made
- Each dish is built from at least two recipes written in the local language (Spanish, French, Italian, German, Korean and so on), plus a source on its history.
- Amounts are given in grams and millilitres, with cups, ounces and Fahrenheit alongside. We avoid "to taste" and "a pinch".
- Heat levels, oil temperatures and cooking times are given as ranges, with a way to tell when the dish is ready.
- The reasons behind the steps are explained only when a food-science book or paper supports them, and we cite it.
